However, Vi questions his allegiance to the project, to Earth and most importantly his loyalty to her once their mere attraction turns into a passion so intense neither can control nor contain it. Their lust and need for each other is burning hotter than the engines of the spaceship.

Before Jordan has a complete understanding of how the ancient staff works or an ability to control the pulses of energy and invisible bursts of power it has to be harnessed into use by the spaceship and put to full utilization as a power source. He finds without it he is unable to keep the spaceship working to guide him to fulfill his destiny of destroying his enemy and keeping Earth safe. Along the way he and Vivianne explore planets, have a close encounter with Arthur, and go deep inside a cave looking for mystical keys. But their searching helps them find the pieces needed to conquer the evil doers as well as cause them to stumble upon the most dangerous human discovery - love. They try to stop it, fight against it with everything they have but in the end the one common denominator they both share besides memories is love for each other that no artificial source of power can produce. Jordan wants to give his life for Vi but is he willing to give his love as well because they are now one in the same option.

It is never a good idea to fall in love with one book over another in a series because it seems unfair to the others and the reader would not be at book three had they not loved the first two. But Jordan's story in this series is a mold breaker because he is more than dashing good looks or the last man able to fight for earth's salvation he is a selfless man who will risk everything including his life to help others. He seeks to do the right thing and believes that his existence is secondary only to the salvation of others especially Vivianne and while he wants to spend his life with her he realizes that one person can change the outcome for everyone and he is willing to risk his life and love for that cause. There are so many great men but a stand up guy is hard to find. Jordan and Vivianne are such a strong couple but stand alone just as well which makes them both amazing characters.

Wow is right, where are all these 5 star reviews coming from?! I did not finish this, it's going back to the library that way, and I'm not sure if I'll pick anything else up from this author.
Okay, first this is the third in a series and I did not read the other two, so I admit things were mentioned from the other two books that I didn't know what they were talking about. That's okay.
Second, it seemed to me like the whole reason for the book was for the couple to have sex.

If that's what you want to do, that's fine, they have they're place. The problem was, it wasn't even hot sex, it was kind of ridiculous. I mean, zero grav., and he spins her on his dick?! Come on. It just came of stupid. The characters were supposed to be genius smart, but you couldn't tell from their actions, it was because the author told you so.
I can't stand that type of writing. There was the first sex scene, it happens after they launch into space, they both can't help themselves, and it's witnessed by a crew member. When he says something disrespectful to the woman, Vivianne, she's all like "you don't talk to me until you say you're sorry". Really? Well, maybe you shouldn't be having sex with your employee in an open cargo bay where anyone can see you, after you have been illegally launched into space by the person you had sex with (Jordan), who (genius, remember) didn't even make sure the ship was provisioned for a launch, and only has a crew of people who are BUILDING the said spaceship. And now you're co-captains, and they're calling him captain, etc?! Idiotic.
I read alot; fantasy, sci-fi, paranormal, YA, contemporary, romance, uf, whatever. My requirements are a good story, it doesn't have to be believable in that "it could happen for real" for me. I want good characters who really are true to who the author says they are, for example, Jane Yellowrock, the Elemental Assassin series, Seanan Mcguire's Toby Daye, there are so many to choose from.
I feel like I've been ranting, but honestly, I'm really getting tired of all this crap out there.
